We're seeking a skilled Information Systems Security Engineer for a unique, tailored mission.  Responsible for performing or reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations and recommend mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the building of security architectures.
  • Enforce the design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures.
  • Assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle.
  • Contribute to the security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities for system and networking operations.
  • Review certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation, providing feedback on completeness and compliance of its content.
  • Security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation and/or integration of secure networking, IA architectures, systems, or system components.
  • Primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Support enforcement of the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures.
  • Apply knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management.
  • Identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data.
  • Interact with the customer and other project team members.
  • Perform system or network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, to include those with differing data protection/classification requirements.
  • Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management.
  • Recommend system-level solutions to resolve security requirements.

 

OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • This position operates on a standard 8 hour schedule Monday - Friday.   

TRAVEL:

  • Little to no travel expected.

Qualifications

CLEARANCE:

 

  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with polygraph
  • ***TS/SCI required upon application for initial consideration.   

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of additional ISSE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

CERTIFICATION(S): 

  • DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 2 is required. 
  • CISSP Certification is required

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as an ISSE.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in the following areas:
    • Network and Network management protocols
    • Network architecture design, deployment, accreditation and operation
    • Information theory
    • Network Protocol security and HAIPE/EDE/LEF design and/or development and/or implementation and/or requirements
    • Program-of-Record architectures and capabilities
    • Risk assessment
    • Covert channel and traffic flow analysis
    • Development of High assurance cryptographic devices
    • EDE I LEF I HAIPE uses or implementers working groups

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Additional Professional Certifications (per DoD 8570 or IT/IA/Cyber related)
  • Software development or scripting experience
  • Military service
  • Background in applied Cybersecurity, System Design and Encryption Technologies
  • MA/MS in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, Cybersecurity or related disciplines
  • Works well in a small team environment. Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
